A group of friends of the late Anne LaRosa are once again organizing a
memorial motorcycle rally, scheduled for Sunday, August 3, 2008
beginning and ending at the Outlaw B-B-Q in Foxboro. This is an event with
three goals: to honor Annie's memory, to benefit the Gynecologic Oncology
Research Fund at Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center (where Annie was
treated) and to raise awareness about ovarian cancer.
In the Fall of 2003, Annie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. At 46, Annie
had never been sick a day in her life, and now she had to have
surgery, followed by multiple cycles of chemotherapy which continued until
2005. Annie fought a long and brave battle but she succumbed to this
disease and passed away, surrounded by friends and family, on September
25, 2005, at only 48 years of age.
Please join us at the Outlaw B-B-Q, Route 1, Foxboro, Massachusetts on
August 3, 2008 (rain date August 9, 2008). The motorcycles will begin
assembling at 8:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m. When the bikes return, there
will be a pig/chicken roast, with all the "fixins," along with
raffles, auctions, vendors, biker games and live bands to entertain you.
The cost is $20.00 per person. But, you don't have to ride to join us.
Come and show your support and have a great time!!!
If you can't join us and prefer to simply make a donation, please make out
your check to "Annie's Dash" and mail it to: Annie's Dash, P.O.
Box 86, Walpole, Massachusetts, 02081. Also, if you would like to donate
an item or gift certificate for our raffles and/or auctions, please
contact me and we can make arrangements to pick up the donation.
All profits from Annie's Dash are being donated, in her name and memory,
to Caritas St. Elizabeth's Gynecologic Oncology Research Fund and are,
therefore, tax-deductible.
Please support this event - ovarian cancer is a killer. Funding is needed
to improve our ability to diagnose this disease at an earlier
stage. Additionally, we need to teach women to be more aware of the
disease's symptoms, and to be proactive in getting tested and treated
early.
Our Run has been endorsed by Dr. Michael A. Steller, Annie's physician and
Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology of Caritas St.
Elizabeth's Medical Center.
Thank you for your interest and support, and if you have any questions,
please feel free to contact us.
