DESCRIPTION

Ricky's Ride is all about helping raise funds for the South Suburban Special Recreation Association based out of Tinley Park, Illinois. The SSSRA provides therapeutic recreation programs for residents with disabilities in the south suburban area. This is Ricky Schmidt and his favorite activities to participates in with the SSSRA are bocce ball, bowling, softball and Saturday Night Social Club.

In September of 2007, the owner of Mickshanes 2 in Homewood hosted an Inaugural Motorcycle Poker Run at his bar that raised $10,000 to benefit the SSSRA, and have set the date for the 2nd Annual Ricky's Ride for Sunday, September 28, 2008.

A Pig Roast has also been scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Mickshanes 2 in Homewood which will also benefit the SSSRA. Check out our calendar for more information.

VENDOR INFO   SSSRA is a therapeutic recreation program that is an extension of eight park districts and three recreation and parks departments. It is organized to provide individuals with disabilities or special needs, the opportunity to be involved in year-round recreation.

SSSRA programs are for individuals from birth through adult who are in special education classes, sheltered workshops, or who have recreational needs not met by traditional park district programs. This could include individuals who have varying degrees of physical disabilities, mental handicaps, learning disabilities, emotional difficulties, hearing or visual impairments, and developmental delays.

Persons residing in the SSSRA member agencies are considered residents. These agencies are: Country Club Hills Park District, Frankfort Square Park District, Hazel Crest Park District, Homewood-Flossmoor Park District, Lan-Oak Park District, Matteson Parks and Recreation Department, Oak Forest Park District, Olympia Fields Park District, Park Forest Recreation and Parks Department, Richton Park Parks and Recreation Department, and Tinley Park - Park District. SSSRA reserves the right to verify residency and special education services.
