The Motorcycle Monster family and web site is happy to announce that the Motorcycle Monster Character (The cute yellow guy) will be attending the Baddest Motorcycle Bike Show on the planet at the 2010 version of the Daytona Biketoberfest, Rat's Hole Custom Bike Show. Ted Smith, the owner of the Rat's Hole franchise, recently invited the Monster to be part of the party and the Motorcycle Monster was ecstatic. The man behind the Monster, Dan Derringer, said. "Wow, what an honor, to be invited, to be part of a tradition that has been going on for nearly 40 years". Derringer continued, "Karl (Big Daddy Rat) Smith was a friend of mine and also one of my "Old School" Motorcycle heroes". Derringer added, "I watched him build his stores, and bike show business into one of the most popular bike shows in the world".
The Biketoberfest 2010 version will happen on Saturday, October 16th at the famous Daytona Lagoon (water park) at 601 Earl St, just north of the Ocean Center near the Beach and Main Street in Daytona. The Monster (Derringer) went on, "I have been attending this show for 30 plus years and remember when Karl affectionately known as "Big Daddy Rat" was working hard to make his show and Tee Shirt venues, something special. From his humble beginnings in the A and P parking lot almost 40 years ago to the bright TV screen and numerous TV specials, including American Chopper and Discovery TV, the Rat's Hole show has evolved into the standard in motorcycle shows". Karls vision and hard work got the Cheese rolling and son Ted has continued the project, continuing to grow the family business. Probably the most important part of this success comes from a world class group of guys that the Rats Hole uses for judges for it's shows. These experts are the most respected judges in the world and to be a winner at a Rat's Hole show is really something special. No politics, no funny stuff, just motorcycle experts fairly grading some of the best machines ever built.
To date the Rats Hole Show has been around the world many times, holding shows in several countries over seas including Germany, France, and Sweden. Of course important US biker venues have also got on board like Sturgis S. D. Rally and Races and Leesburg Bikefest. Recently the famous Buffalo Chip campground hosted the Sturgis Rally Bike Show.
Founder Karl Smith who passed away in 2002 was an energetic guy who owned several shops where Tee shirts were painted as his famous Rat Mates (beautiful girls) marketed his products and bike shows. These beautiful girls got lots of attention as male bikers always wanted to be around the beauties. Today that marketing tradition continues as the Big Green Rat is surrounded with more Rat Mates than ever. Needless to say the excitement continues.
Not only is the marketing team and bike show something special, with its judges, and world class entries, Karls original Cheese Hauler bike has become a show of sorts on it's own. Several Rat's Hole Bikes like the Servi-Rat, Rat Poison, Track Rat, Rat Patrol and Big Boss Rat have added to the attraction. Ted has continued to build bikes in his father's footsteps making the Rat's Hole name grow through the years as the old school theme continues. Not only do these bikes keep the Rat's Hole theme going, but they are also killer custom bikes and get a huge amount of attention as loyal bike show attendees enjoy the ongoing Rat's Hole legacy.
The dream of a hard core biker and great tee shirt salesman has evolved into a motorcycle legend that is headed towards the third generation, and the Motorcycle Monster is excited, proud, and very happy to be part of this famous enduring old school motorcycle tradition.
The Monster closed the interview by saying, "See you in Daytona. I'll be the Yellow Guy between the bikini girls hanging with some really cool custom iron".
