PAST EVENT - Block the Shot Motorcycle Run

On September 12, 2009 we are planning a benefit to support the
“Nathan D. Crowell Memorial Fund”.

Nathan was a 22 year old student at University Of New Haven and a fantastic athlete. He was one who always gave 110% for the teams he played for. Whether it be organized sports or pulling a wiffle ball/bat or football out of his car, he was always ready to get the game going. Nate was an avid ice hockey fan and player, and had joined a recreational league in Shelton, Connecticut when he arrived at school in 2003.

On October 25, 2007 with three seconds left in the game, Nathan blocked the desperation shot from a member of the opponent team and saved the game for his team. However in doing so paid the ultimate price. The hero of that game died in the hospital emergency room that night.

In keeping his memory alive we(the family) have started a memorial fund in his name. Some of the proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support children at “The Rinks at Shelton”, who are unable to afford the fees and/or the equipment to play ice hockey. This will be done with the assistance of “The Chiefs”, Nathan’s hockey team. Other proceeds will be given out in scholarships.
