PAST EVENT - Easy Rider 40th Anniversary Celebration

The Pointe Coupee Historical Society is holding a 40th anniversary celebration of the release of Easy Rider (1969-2009) to raise funds for a commemorative historical marker to be placed in Morganza and to raise awareness for motorcycle safety. We will begin with a screening and discussion of Easy Rider at 6:30 on Saturday, November 14th at the Poydras Center in New Roads.

The main event will be held on Sunday, November 15th at 12:30 p.m. at the Poydras Center with gumbo, documentary footage of our local stars, an exhibit, and speakers. This will be followed by a ride at 3:00 p.m to The Bear’s Den in Morganza, just down the road from the old Meloncon’s Café where a 40th “Birthday Cake” will be served.

Wristbands for Sunday’s event are $20 and may be purchased in advance by contacting Angélique Gardner at 225-240-7002 or angeliquegardner@gmail.com. Advanced purchases of the wristband will also get you into the Saturday movie screening free of charge. Tickets for the screening will be $5 at the door.
