PAST EVENT - Joeys Ride

The Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) is excited to announce, The 2nd Annual Joey’s Ride hosted by the Evil Road Spirits Riding Club. The event will be held on Saturday May 1st, 2010 at Tavern on the Avenue in Saint Paul. The event will include an extended motorcycle ride, live music, raffles, taco bar, drink specials, and much more!

Proceeds from this event will directly benefit AuSM to help to fund a variety of innovative programs in the areas of education, support, and summer camps for children who are challenged by the complex issues related to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

AuSM is an organization of families, educators, care givers, and professionals committed to supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Established in 1971, AuSM serves members throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.

Autism is a complex developmental disability that is present from birth or very early in development. It affects essential human behaviors including: social interaction, communication, emotions, imagination, self-regulation, and the ability to establish relationships with others. Although the cause of this condition has not yet been determined, it is clear that the disability affects brain development.

It is estimated that autism occurs in as many as 1 in 150 individuals in the United States (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), and 1 in 81 children in Minnesota (US Department of Special Education). Autism is four times more prevalent in boys than girls and knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries.

We look forward to your participation in this year’s event. Your involvement as a donor with cash donations, or items for the raffle will help AuSM to continue its mission to offer programs, services, and other innovative opportunities to families and individuals whose lives are challenged by the complex issues related to ASD.
