PAST EVENT - Kammys Ride

August 28, 2010 marks the 2nd annual Kammy’s Ride. Kammy’s Ride is a truly unique event that has become a integral part in the fund raising for Kammy’s Kause and the 4p- Support Group.

4p-, also known as Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome (WHS), is a rare chromosome disorder which causes mild to severe mental and physical handicaps, organ failure, oral defensiveness, and developmental delays. Early intervention such as physical, occupational, and speech therapy have proven to be vital in the development of children with 4p-. There have been 600+ cases reported since its discovery in the 1960’s with 150+ cases known in the United States, four of which are known in Indiana. The chance of a child being born with this disorder is 1 in 50,000. With so few 4p- children and the lack of funding, new research and information is limited. To date Kammy’s Kause and Kammy’s Ride are the largest fundraisers for the 4p- Support Group.

Kammy’s Ride will begin at American Legion Post 119 located at 275 S Center St, Greenfield. Registration will take place from 8:30 – 10:00 and breakfast will be provided. The 150 mile escorted ride departs at 10:00 AM with the first stop in First Place Sports Bar & Grill in Connersville. From Connersville, the ride will travel to Hinee’s Saloon located on Prairie Creek Reservoir where lunch will be provided. Following lunch at Hinee’s we will stop at Scooter’s Bar & Grill in New Castle. The ride concludes at Kammy’s Kause taking place at American Legion Campground in Fortville. The riders will be welcomed by Kammy, other 4p- families from around the United States, as well as all the attendees and musicians of Kammy’s Kause. Kammy’s Kause will feature a Hog Roast for all of the riders, live music from some of the best local and regional bands, and a silent auction.
