PAST EVENT - Poker Run

All proceeds from this ride will go to the ACMS Pool Project. Ashe County Middle School, located in Warrensville, NC is the only school in the county with a pool.

The school serves approximately 450 students each year and all of those students have received FREE swimming lessons through the school's PE program. Because of the pool's age (located at the old Northwest Ashe High School) and no funding to take care of the ever growing list of crucial, expensive repairs, the pool had to be closed in 2007.

A large group of community citizens is working hard to raise $83,000 which will then be matched by the Ashe County Board of Commissioners and the Ashe County Board of Education in order to build a brand new pool at the school.

Many students in the past have learned the life-saving skill of being able to swim at this school and we want generations in the coming years to have that same opportunity.

Free swimming lessons will be given during the regular school year to middle school students and many other opportunities will be offered after school hours and on weekends. Some of these include swimming lessons, exercise classes, deep water rescue training, and public swim time! Please help us raise money for this very worthy cause.

The ride will begin at Ashe County Middle School at 10:00am. The registration fee is only $15 per rider. Lunch and event t-shirts will be available. A 50/50 drawing will be held and chances on some AWESOME door prizes will be sold. We look forward to seeing you at Ashe County Middle School's First Annual "Pool" Run on July 18!
