PAST EVENT - Scholarship Poker Run for the Children of Military KIAs

My name is Ciara Hindman and in reading this flyer you will understand the meaning behind this poker run. I am doing my senior seminar experience this summer so that going in to high school next year I have on less thing to worry about for graduation.

In choosing my senior seminar experience (SSE) I sat down and thought long and hard about what a project would be that I could truly put my heart in to. The first thing I concluded was, I wanted to give back to the veterans. Not only because they gave me the freedom to write this flyer now but in my eyes they hold the up most respect, they’re courage has kept us free over the many years.

Trying to decide how I was going to give back was much more difficult. I thought of everything from love boxes to cash donations. But thanks to help from my grandpa (Vietnam vet) I decided to some how raise money for the children of military KIA’s.

Because their parent(s) had given their own life to protect our freedom and keep our flag waving proud, they absolute best way for me to give back is to help the family in such a difficult economic time.

Then the hardest part of the whole decision was, how do I get people to recognize what I am do and how do I get their support? Well I had seen many poker runs and have been very active in motorcycle events (Patriot Guard, Shriners Toy Run, ect…) and I thought a fun way to raise money would be a poker run. One thing I have noticed in my experiences is that the one crowd that will always, no matter what, support our troops is the bikers themselves.
I hope in reading this it inspires you in every way to give 100% back to our men that won’t be coming back. I know that the economy is tough right now, but everything counts!
