The Honor Run is a Coast-to-Coast motorcycle run raising attention and funding for Fisher House Foundation programs supporting our returning injured military and their families during prolonged in-hospital and rehab stays. The bad news--many challenging life altering health and trauma issues beyond what 'the system' can support. Today�s technology mercifully moves an injured soldier from battle field to fully-equipped hospital in less than an hour. This means the number of amputees we bring home from war has skyrocketed over previous conflicts. One in four injured soldiers now come home with a traumatic injury of some kind. And the hospitals they come home to, while better equipped to handle them, are often ill-equipped to provide for their families. What can we do? Here�s what we can do. Guinness World Record holder adventure motorcyclist and inspirational speaker Dave Barr will lead the ride from the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington DC to final festivities in California. Dave is a double amputee Marine with an inspiring message for anyone wishing to move their life from "I cannot" into "I can!� At this writing, nationally The Honor Run is taking on a life of its own with cool planned events and entertainment at all the stops across the country. Harley dirt track racing in Indy--maybe a shot at taking your own bike on The Magic Mile! A reception and party in Denver. A whole casino and party in Mesquite NV. And the final party and reception at Oakley World Headquarters in California with Actor, Gary Sinise' band. The list goes on. The Honor Run is gathering steam and you can be a part of the excitement, and help do something for our injured veterans. THE HONOR RUN COLORADO SCHEDULE Tuesday September 1st, 2009 8:00 am � Selected riders will depart Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson for Burlington, Colorado to meet up with the Honor Run; 12:00 noon � Depart Burlington, Colorado to escort the Honor Run across Colorado returning to; 2:00 pm � Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson for a Reception and party with a barbeque and music 6:00 pm � Depart Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson for a run to Holiday Inn @I-70 & Colfax where; 7:00 pm - Guinness World Record holder adventure motorcyclist and inspirational speaker Dave Barr will speak. These returning wounded military and their families gave us their all - now is the time that WE can step up and help them. A $25 donation gets you a patch or a pin and a chance to be a part of the first historic Honor Run. Checks should be made out to "FMDASF" or "1st Marine Division Association Scholarship Fund."
