PAST EVENT - The Salvation Army Ride for the Red Shield

For over 120 years, The Salvation Army in Westmoreland County has been a shining light to those who desperately need its services. With dignity and respect, The Salvation Army delivers top-notch assistance by responding to emergencies and helping people gain a sense of self-sufficiency in their lives.

Each year, The Salvation Army helps countless individuals and families make ends meet. Westmoreland County is a large area that hosts five (5) Salvation Army community centers, four (4) service centers and eleven (11) service units. This structure allows us to cover every zip code while eliminating the expense and inefficiency of the duplication of valuable services. Offering a myriad of programs, The Salvation Army has developed creative ways to address the needs of children, youth, individuals, seniors and families; and in many cases, has tailor made many of their programs in order to address the unique needs of these communities.

On September 5, 2009, The Salvation Army of Westmoreland County will be hosting the 1st annual “Ride for the Red Shield” Motorcycle Run. Funds raised through this event will be used to support The Salvation Army of Westmoreland County’s Red Shield Campaign. Helping to keep thousands of lives shielded from some of life’s hardship, the campaign raises funds used to support Youth, Community Feeding, and Emergency Assistance Programs throughout Westmoreland County.
