Holly Tolson, diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Trophy type I, SMA.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a motor neuron disease. The motor neurons affect the voluntary muscles that are used for activities such as crawling, walking, head and neck control, and swallowing.
Approximately 1 in 6000 babies born are affected, and about 1 in 40 people are genetic carriers.

Holly has already lost her ability to swallow and she now receives her formula through a feeding tube. She runs the risk of choking or getting food in her lungs if she eats anything by mouth. Additionally, Holly has several medical machines that she depends on to help keep her healthy and undergoes daily treatments and weekly therapy. Holly cannot sit, crawl, stand or hold her head up and has limited movement of her legs and arms, making it extremely difficult to find toys for her to play with due to her limited strength.
