The annual Knoxville Biker Rally Nationals went off without a hitch this past week-end at beautiful Chilhowee Park in the eastern Tenn. Knoxville Mountains This first year event had many “big show” features that made it “something really special” according to Dan Derringer the “man behind” the www.MotorcycleMonster.com event web site. Derringer said, “This event has the best set-up for a motorcycle event that I have ever seen. The facilities are perfect for a motorcycle party with parks, lakes, pavilions, and lots of room for vendors and motorcycle demonstrations.” He went on, “every detail was taken care of including TV, radio promotions, with many Knoxville business affiliations, including Knoxville Harley Davison that added to the excitement. TV ads and radio remotes were everywhere as locals were bombarded with media info about the event”.
Geico national personality Big Rick Hoffman and Redneck Engineering’s “Nobody” gave the midway the feel of much larger national shows where attendees could “meet and greet” some of the top builders in America. Harley Davidson had its national Demo Tractor Trailer there to give riders a chance to “test drive” the ride of their dreams. Also, Boss Hoss was on hand with Roar Motorcycles to give riders a chance to see their new models. California Side Car and Motor Trikes were also in attendance to add to the opportunities for show goers to see the latest and greatest equipment available.
Add a few big name musical acts like Geneva and Kimberly Cash and the concert side of this well put together event, had a buzz rarely found at first year shows. On Weds. Night the Partons and Tony Gore and the Wilborns delivered a great night of Gospel.
Local comedy personality Barney Fife along with national Motorcycle Celebrity “The Motorcycle Monster” added to the fun with opportunities for guests to get a handshake and a “Kodak Moment” with a couple of fun guys.
Motorcycle TV show Born to Ride was on hand to film the activities with Radical Randy doing his usual “bang up” job as the “Energetic MC”.
Other motorcycle entertainment acts like “Ride like a Pro” and the “Burnout King” gave visitors a full weekend of Motorcycle entertainment action.
Great venue, good organization, and exciting acts gives this first year event an A+ for organization, planning and hard work. The only down side to the program was a scorching 95 degree week and a very untimely summer monsoon on Sat afternoon that hurt the attendance big time. (Not the promoters fault)
Overall, the promoters did a great job putting this promising event together and the Monster predicts that if this group continues with their same resolve, and hard work, The Knoxville Rally may become one of the “big boys” in a very few years.
