Milwaukee Fire Department Fireboat Christened at H-D Museum

On August 20, 2009, Harley-Davidson Museum Director Stacy Watson christened the Milwaukee Fire Department’s new fireboat, Trident, in a dramatic waterfront display at the Harley-Davidson Museum.

A 39-foot, welded-aluminum hull vessel manufactured by Metal Craft Marine, Inc., the Trident is powered by a pair of Cummins diesel engines delivering 540 hp each to the boat’s jet drives. With two 1750 gal/min pumps and a built-in foam tank, the Trident is capable of a 5000 gal/min fire flow to five deck and roof monitors and two handlines.

Trident provides fire protection to waterfront properties and marine vessels along Lake Michigan and it tributaries. The Trident may assist the MFD Dive Rescue Team at incidents where a diving platform for underwater operations is needed. The Trident also provides immediate, on-water emergency medical services, both basic and advanced, to the boating and marine public.
